A Message from the Center Director

It is a great pleasure to see that LG Electronics, one of the leading global enterprises, and Pusan National University continue to promote "Tailored Industry-University Cooperation."

DA Headquarters of LG Electronics (Changwon Factory) is the leading actor of the `Miracle of Changwon Factory` who revived the home appliance field (which was regarded as a fading industry) as one of the global top industries. LG Electronics recorded #1 market shares in the world in the items of air-conditioners, microwave ovens, cleaners and home theaters. The company also developed blue ocean markets by releasing premium refrigerators and washing machines. Recently, the Business Week selected LG Electronics as No. 1 Company in the world`s top 100 IT enterprises. We would like to congratulate LG Electronics on all of these remarkable achievements.

The 21st century represents an era of unlimited competition. Aiming to become the `world`s No. 3 enterprise by 2010,` LG Electronics declared `Recruiting and Training of Right People` as its top priority in its global CEO strategy meeting. The image of LG`s Right People who show earnest and innovative passion toward work is consistent with the image of talent pursued by our university. Building on our cooperation, we will continue to promote the `Tailored Industry-University Cooperation` with LG Electronics. LG Track and LG R&D Graduate School which are devoted to training tailored men of talent needed for LG Electronics, and LG CARE which is working to develop future foundation technology in cooperation with scholars at home and abroad are the backbone of our excellent talent training and R&D programs. Our New Industry-University Cooperation is quite unique from the traditional industry-university cooperation programs in that PNU, the regional hub university, and LG Electronics, the company leading the national economy, are jointly conducting an enormous talent training project.

Finally, I would like to thank LG Electronics members for their support of the New Industry-University Cooperation project and we pledge to do our best to help LG Electronics grow into one of the top global companies and continue to lead the nation`s economy.
